Billions of dollars in grant funds are available to bring true broadband internet to every home in the United States.
CONNECT Champaign County is a grant funded project with the goal of bringing fiber optic internet service to every rural home, business, and anchor institution within the County that is currently unserved or underserved with true broadband services.
CONNECT Champaign Project Partners
Champaign County Board
The Champaign County Board, along with their Broadband Task Force, has committed $4.7 Million in ARPA funds to the project.
Volo Internet + Tech
Local Internet Service Provider, based in Urbana, was selected by the Broadband Task Force out of 9 prospective providers to complete and operate the network. Volo is providing $4.7 Million in matching funds.
Champaign County Farm Bureau
The Champaign County Farm Bureau has partnered to provide advocacy for land-owner’s rights, assist in coordinating communication regarding the project, and acquiring easements for the project area.
